Season’s Greetings!

Hello, hello! Wow, it’s been awhile, hasn’t it? Let me dust off this website and share a few updates.

First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who participated in the seasonal event on the Climber’s Court Discord! It was so much fun creating lore for the Dalenos Festival of the Pristine Waters and sharing short character stories with you all. For anyone who wasn’t able to participate or couldn’t complete the event, this lore will be available to everyone soon in one way or another (possibly here on my website, or maybe somewhere else); I’ll be sure to share that information once it’s been decided. This new lore is not necessary to appreciate the Shattered Legacy series, nor any other series written by myself or Andrew Rowe, but it’s a fun example of one of Kaldwyn’s many holidays and a chance to get to know my characters outside of their roles as spire climbers.

I was honored to be asked to participate in this event and create these tidbits of lore, but without the amazing community of Climber’s Court, this event wouldn’t have been as successful and amazing as it was. Specifically, I would like to thank Rels, Lan, Kritta, and especially Ghost for facilitating this event. Ghost didn’t just program all the bots, gifts, macros, and scripts that made this event possible, he also provided amazing direction to everyone involved in a way that was both graceful and poignant. Throughout the event, he was always on hand to fix whatever needed fixing and was patient and polite through everything. Compared to Ghost’s efforts, my part in this event was rather small and I stand in awe of what he created. For anyone else who would like to thank Ghost for organizing this amazing event, please consider sending a gift or donation through his Patreon.

In the spirit of gift-giving, I was recently asked if there was a way for fans to send mail to me, and while I am humbled and honored to receive such a request, I would ask instead that anyone with the means to do so make a donation to a local charity or cause close to their heart. There are so many wonderful causes to support and by donating locally, you help support members of your own community who are struggling this time of year. It’s impossible to list all the important causes out there, but a few to consider are local animal shelters and rescue groups, the unhoused and economically disadvantaged, veteran programs, and assistance for disabled individuals. Even a small gift can do a lot of good, and helping those in need means more to me than getting socks for Christmas. (And I love socks!)

For anyone who wishes to make a donation to a charity close to my heart, please consider donating to the Fast Friends rescue organization. They specialize in finding homes for retired and injured greyhounds from the racetracks in Caliente, Mexico. Right now, Fast Friends is in need of extra support as one of their partner racetracks is looking to downsize the number of dogs used for racing, which means a lot of new dogs to find homes for! Not only does Fast Friends make multiple trips to Mexico throughout the year (and sometimes multiple trips a month!) but they also take on the expense of feeding, vaccinating, and spaying or neutering each greyhound they take in. They even take on the responsibility of treating dogs injured from racing and rehabilitating them for adoption, such as my sweet baby Chromie. All three of my greyhounds were adopted through Fast Friends and I plan to adopt another when the time is right. I know there are many amazing and worthwhile causes to donate to, but for anyone struggling to decide which one to support, please consider this one. Fast Friends Greyhound Adoption

For anyone currently on the Bluesky social media platform, you can follow me @kayleighnicol.bsky.social. I’m still in the process of setting up my account, but I’m excited to be a part of this new community! I’m also still on Twitter and Facebook, and I’ve been dabbling on Instagram, though I am far from proficient with it. On Discord, I’m most active on the Climber’s Court server where readers can submit questions to either myself or Andrew Rowe through the #question-queue channel, or see the answers to previously asked questions in the corresponding answer channel. I’m terrible at keeping my social media platforms up to date, but I hope to make some changes to that in the coming year.

That’s it for now! Thank you all so much for your continued support and enthusiasm. Every review, comment, and question really means so much to me that words are not enough to convey my gratitude. I wish everyone peace, health, and happy reading as we head into the new year.
